It is a suburban development situated 15.4 miles (24.8 km) west of Charing Cross. Cowley is home to St. Laurence Church, which was mentioned in the 1086 Domesday Book.
Little Britain Lake in the west of Cowley extends for about 450 metres between the River Colne and Frays River (Link to Ordnance survey website).
