Chebarkul (Russian: Чебарку́ль) is a town in Chelyabinsk Oblast, Russia, located on the shores of Chebarkul Lake 78 kilometers (48 mi) west of Chelyabinsk. Population: 43,405 (2010 Census preliminary results);[1] 47,144 (2002 Census);[2] 50,062 (1989 Census).[3]

Founded in 1736 as a fortress on the border between Russian and Bashkir lands, it later grew into a large Cossack stanitsa. Town status was granted to it on October 25, 1951.

Several formations and units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation's Volga-Ural Military District have been located in the town. Currently elements of the 34th Motor Rifle Division are located here.
