The St. Joseph Metropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by the
United States Census Bureau , is an area consisting of four counties - three in northwestMissouri (Andrew, Buchanan, and DeKalb) and one in northeastKansas (Doniphan) - anchored by the city of St. Joseph. As of the 2000 census, the MSA had a population of 122,336 (though a July 1, 2007 estimate placed the population at 123,339).
