Gippsland , Victoria,Australia . It is located in the eastern part of the state. It includes the towns of Allenvale, Bairnsdale, Benambra, Bruthen, Buchan, Ensay, Lakes Entrance, Mallacoota, Metung, Omeo, Orbost, Paynesville, Swan Reach and Swifts Creek. It has an area of 20,931.2 square kilometres. At the2006 Census it had a population of 40,037.It was formed in
1994 from the merger of theCity of Bairnsdale ,Shire of Bairnsdale ,Shire of Omeo ,Shire of Orbost , Shire of Tambo and parts of theShire of Rosedale . The main shire offices are at Bairnsdale but there are offices at Orbost, Omeo, and Lakes Entrance; all of them have libraries and public facilities such as internet access.ee also
