The airline was founded in
1955 by pilot Orin Seybert of Pilot Point. [http://www.penair.com/about.html] Operations commenced in1956 , concentrating on charter services. Scheduled services were inaugurated in1973 between King Salmon and thePribilof Islands communities. In1985 Penair acquired all the assets of Air Transport Services of Kodiak. In November1991 PenAir became a codeshare partner ofAlaska Airlines .
