History
The constituency was created in 1921 as a 4 seater, under the Government of Ireland Act 1920, for the 1921 general election to the House of Commons of Southern Ireland, whose members formed the 2nd Dáil. It elected 4 deputies (Teachtaí Dála, commonly known in English as TDs) to the Dáil in 1921 and 1922.
Under the Electoral Act, 1923, it became a 5 seat constituency for the 1923 general election to the 4th Dáil.[1] Its representation fluctuated between 4 and 5 seats until its abolition for the 1969 general election.
Boundaries
The constituency consisted of Cork city and the county electoral area of Ballincollig.[1]
