Irish general election, 1943

The Irish general election of 1943 was held on 23 June 1943. The 138 newly elected members of the 11th Dáil assembled on 1 July when the new Taoiseach and government were appointed.

The general election took place in 34 parliamentary constituencies throughout independent Ireland for 138 seats in the lower house of parliament, Dáil Éireann. The election was fought while the Emergency Powers Act 1939 [http://www.irishstatutebook.ie/1939/en/act/pub/0028/index.html] was still in force.
