History

Debut on AM

The Mareco Broadcasting Network, Inc. made its debut in the radio industry in 1963. Its first AM station DZBM, originally served only as a promotional venue for Mareco's own Mabuhay and Villar Records. It also held the local license to produce and market foreign music labels from a peak of over a hundred major international recording companies. During this time, DZBM played the latest and widest variety of popular music and was consistently no. 1 in the surveys, contributing significantly in popularizing radio as a prime entertainment medium in Manila.

Rebranding as Power 105

With its increasing listenership, MBN eventually opened DZBM to commercial advertising. For enhanced quality, the station moved from AM to the FM band and became known as Power 105 BM FM at 105.1 MHz in 1985 competing with WXB 102 (now 102.7 Star FM). It played New Wave and Disco music until 1991 when Power 105 BM FM shut down.

Crossover Era

From this time, the Network underwent several changes in management, as well as programming, with the end result being 105.1 Crossover which changed to Jazz station competing directly with Citylite 88.3 (now Jam 88.3) and Joey @ Rhythms 92.3 (now 92.3 News FM). over a decade, jazz enthusiasts both young and old have made 105.1 Crossover their place on the radio. From smooth jazz and rhythm & blues, samba to new standards. The programming is spiced up with special shows and segments including Understanding Bossa Nova hosted by premier Filipino bossa nova artist Eileen Sison and The Dave Koz Show hosted by Grammy-nominated saxophone player Dave Koz that taken their listeners to the heart of smooth jazz and highlight exceptional musical artistry.

Expansion

MBNI then realized its plans for expansion with the opening 99.1 Crossover (DYBM-FM) in Bacolod City on February 1997, 90.7 Crossover (DYAC-FM) in Cebu on September of the same year, and 93.1 Crossover (DXLR-FM) in Davao on June 1999, bringing the Crossover concept to the southern area of the country. The Manila broadcast is now also heard live over 105.1 FM in Baguio City. The Crossover sound is also webcast worldwide in real time on their official website.
