History
The assets of Metro Transport were originally owned by Connex (now Veolia NSW). This company is now private, with its shareholders being Utilities Trust of Australia, Australian Infrastructure Fund, and Colonial First State Investments. Management of the company's rail services is contracted out to Veolia Transport.
Operations
Metro operates a light rail service, Metro Light Rail connecting Central Railway Station with Chinatown, Darling Harbour, The Star casino and the inner-western suburbs of Pyrmont, Glebe and Lilyfield.
Metro also operates Metro Monorail, a 3.8-kilometre loop connecting Darling Harbour and the city centre.

The company is actively lobbying the Government of New South Wales in support of the extension of this network to cover the central business district,
