Nerang National Park (most commonly referred to as Nerang State Forest) is a National Park in Queensland, Australia situated on the Gold Coast. Nerang National Park is located 12 km from Surfers Paradise on Nerang’s north-west outskirts.[4]

Nerang National Park is known for its variety of birds, trails, and views. Making it a popular place for mountain bike riders, bushwalkers and bird watchers.[5]

Environment

Nerang National Park is a open forest environment providing a habitat for lot of native and non-native animals.

Soil

The soil in the Nerang National Park is mostly clay and lime stone though near rivers and very fertile areas the soil is more loamy and aerated.

Geography

The land of the Nerang National Park is around 100m above sea level and located only 8 km away from the Pacific Ocean.

Geology

The Nerang National Park is mostly small-large hills all the way through. Both the Coombabah and Saltwater creek run through the Nerang National Park.

Usage

The Nerang National Park is used for all sorts of sports such as horse riding and downhill mountain biking. In 2009 the World Nationals for downhill mountain bikers under 15's were held there. The Nerang National Park consist of many fire trails and tracks making it very popular for bike riding, horse riding and walking.

Trivia

Recently on the 28th of July 2011 a grass fire burned through 150 hectares of the Nerang National Park.[6]
