Numbal is one of the 51 union councils of Abbottabad district in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.

Location and info

Latitude: 34.22291 Longitude: 73.471187 Numbal is a mountainous area in the east of the district bordering Kashmir, where it has trade and tribal links. The union council takes its name from the main village of the area - i.e. Numbal. U/C Numbal has extreme Natural Beauty having mountain peaks, forest, hiking tracks, Creek and beautiful view of River juhlum.

Education

Just like every village of Pakistan U/C Numbal is also lacking in education, Health, Communication and other common facilities of life. But since the people of U/C Numbal are very hardworking and determined for their goals. So the literacy rate of U/C Numbal is Not so bad. For Example Chalisian is one of the smallest village of U/C but still it produces 2 Professors, 2 Engineers, 1 geologist 2 MBA, 11 MA/MSc (professor Mati ur Rehman Abbasi, Professor Ikram ul Haq, Engr. Waqar ur Rehman Abbasi(Canada), Engr. Faseeh ur Rehman Abbasi and Saffi ur Rehman Abbasi(geologist) etc...) among the total population of 200 people. 90% literacy rate of Chalisian shows that the people of U/C Numbal has huge talent and tendency to compete the world.

پاکستان کے ہر گاوں کی طرح یونین کونسل نمبل بھی تعلیم، صحت، ذرئع آمدورفت اور بنیادی زروریات زندگی میں پیچھے ہے۔ لیکن چونکہ یونین کونسل نمبل کے لوگ بہت مہنتی ہیں اور اپنی منزل پر نگاہ رکھتے ھیں اس لیے یونین کونسل نمبل کا شرح خواندگی اتنا برا نہیں ہے۔ مثال کے طور پر چلیسیاں یونین کونسل نمبل کا سب سے چوٹا گاوں ہے جس کی آبادی صرف ۲۰۰ افراد پر مشتمل ہے۔ لیکن پھر بھی اس گاوں نے ۲ پروفیسر، ۲ انجینِئر، ۱ جیالوجیسٹ، ۲ ایم بی اے اور ۱۱ ایم اے/ایم ایس سی کو جنم دیا ہے (پروفیسر مطیع الر حمان عباسی، پروفیسر اکرام الحق، انجینئر وقار الر حمان عباسی(کینیڈا)، انجینئر فصیح الر حمان عباسی، صفی الر حمان عباسی(جیالوجسٹ) وغیرہ وغیرہ)۔ چلیسیاں کی ۹۰ فی صد شرح خواندگی اس بات کی گواہ ہے کہ یونین کونسل نمبل کے لوگوں میں دنیا سے مقابلا کرنے کی بھر پور صلاحیتیں اور جزبہ موجود ہے

Livelihood

The main occupation of the people is subsistence farming and cattle breeding. Farmers cultivate two crops per year. The other occupation is cattle breeding. Cows, sheep and goat are kept for supplying milk for the daily use of the households. Bullocks are used to work the plough. Poverty has forced many people to seek economic opportunities in the foreign countries like UAE and KSA.

یہاں کے لوگوں کا بنیادی پیشہ کاشت کاری اور جانور پالنا ہے۔ کسان سال میں دو فصلیں اگاتے ہیں۔ گاےَ اور بکریاں ضروریات زندگی کے لیے دودھ مہیا کرتی ہیں۔ بیلوں کو ہل چلانے کے لیے استعمال جاتا ہے۔ غربت کچھ لوگوں کو روزگار کی تلاش میں بیرون ملک گیَ ہے جیسا کہ سعودی عرب اور متحدہ عرب امارات۔

Ethnic groups

The people of U/C Numbal are all Muslims. About 70% belong to the Abbasi tribe.Other tribes in this area include zamidar, Awan, Malik, karlal and a handful of Mughals.

یونین کونسل نمبل کے تمام لوگ مسلمان ہیں۔ تقریباْ 70 فی صد کا تعلق عباسی قبیلہ سے ہے۔ باقی قبایَل میں اعوان، ملک، کڑلال اور مغلوں کی باقیات شامل ہیں۔

Climate and crops

As this area is away from sea and is above the sea level its winters are extreme. Winter lasts from November to March. April tends to be quite pleasant as the climate is temperate.The summer season is very pleasant and humid the temperature rises maximum to 30-35 degree,due to which it is good picnic spot. From mid July to mid August people enjoy the fifth season, monsoon, which provides relief after the hot months (i.e. May and June). Farming is the main occupation of the people.The farming is done by oxen in the remote area of village but in proper village i.e. Numbal, Majhuhan is ploughed by machinery because of accessibility.the two crops are grown there i.e. rabi and kharaif. The major rabi crop grown here are potato and maize.the kharaif crop grown there is only wheat. Some vegetable are also found here like turnip, radish, peas, pumpkin, beans and mustard.

Fruits

Fruit like pear, apple, black grapes, grapes, fig, peach, damson plum, mulberry, wild fig, lemon, apricot, charry are found in abundance in U/C Numbal. As the hill people lack awareness about the markets, they are unable to get a proper return. These fruits only meet the requirement of local people.
