Michael Phelan "Mike" O'Toole (born October 24, 1986) is an American videographer, video editor, video artist, raconteur, spoken word artist, poet, writer, and Public-access television and film actor.

Since the year 2000, O'Toole has aided in the production of numerous video, television, and independent film projects, both for a variety of stations transmitting in the Public, educational, and government access (PEG) cable TV medium, such as NewTV, The Needham Channel and Brookline Access Television, and as an independent freelancer.[citation needed] He is primarily publicly known as the emcee, with radio personality Quincy Brisco, and co-founder, with New England video artist Lawrence Hollie, of "Experimentally Ill", a series of ongoing short film showcase events, most commonly exhibited at The Coolidge Corner Theatre, of Brookline, Massachusetts. In addition, he has been the support emcee for Allston filmmaker D.L. Polonsky, in presenting his "Nonviolent Anarchy Film Festival," which has toured to both The Coolidge Corner Theatre, and The Cable Car Cinema in Providence, Rhode Island.

On television, he acts as the host, VJ, and co-host, with Lawrence Hollie, of the community television program "Random Acts".[1] In this show he performs humorous monologues between video segments, and co-produces or appears in short subject pieces or vignettes with Hollie and Brisco, including performing as the drummer for garage punk band "Quincy Brisco And The Dirty Blasters." In these segments, Brisco performs lead vocals and spoken word, with "Tunnel Of Love" frontman Andy MacBain, as side project, playing lead guitar. Hollie performs backing vocals, and acts as a "hype man."

O'Toole also engages in spoken word on a program of his own, called "Solipsist's Dispatch," in addition to hosting his own audio diary podcast, known as "The Mike-OCast." This project has been ongoing since 2006, recently featuring a selected song from a local or indie music act, prefacing O'Toole's monologue. The podcast is distinct from an occasional internet radio program O'Toole utilizes to talk live with fans and call-in guests, via Blogtalkradio.[citation needed]

O'Toole has partnered with Lawrence Hollie in independently producing, directing, shooting, and editing a series of concert films, music videos and documentary shorts for touring Ireland and Boston-originating band Midatlantic (formerly known as "The Bleedin' Bleedins"), including several live performance videos taking place at The Paradise Rock Club.[citation needed] Among these are selections from ther opening set for the first hometown reunion show of friends Letters To Cleo, as well as acoustic performances and interviews on WAAF (FM)'s celebrated Bay State Rock program. In July 2009, O'Toole began training in the art of improvisational theatre, studying at ImprovBoston.[citation needed] He has also performed spoken word, and extemporaneous monologue live at The Out Of The Blue Art Gallery, in Cambridge.[citation needed]
