- ^ There is a conflict between references for this data. The DatabaseFootball.com source records that Bill Byrd was the 10th pick in the 18th round, 185th overall, while the media guide source records instead that Byrd was drafted in the 16th, without providing further data. It is assumed that the DatabaseFootball.com source is more authoritative, because it lists all draft picks in numerical order.
- ^ There is a conflict between references for this data. The DatabaseFootball.com source records that Lu Gambino was the 8th pick in the 24th round, 271st overall, while the media guide source records instead that Gambino was drafted in the 24th, without providing further data. It is assumed that the DatabaseFootball.com source is more authoritative, because it lists all draft picks in numerical order.
- ^ There is a conflict between references for this data. The DatabaseFootball.com source records that Emile Fritz was the 10th pick in the 13th round, 115th overall, while the media guide source records instead that Fritz was drafted in the 11th, without providing further data. It is assumed that the DatabaseFootball.com source is more authoritative, because it lists all draft picks in numerical order.
- ^ Turyn actually served as an assistant with the Washington Redskins while a player at Maryland. In 1946, Terrapins head coach Clark Shaughnessy was a part-time adviser for the Washington Redskins, and had some of his players assist him. Turyn and Tommy Mont reportedly even called some plays during games.[5]
