For Train transportation the Kulitthurai is the main hub for Kalkulam and Vilavancode taluka’s. The Kalkulam and Vilavancode taluka’s have the population around seven lakes. The Kulitthurai station is found to be centered between Trivandrum — Kanyakumari railway route. This railway station collection is more than seven crore per annum and a daily passenger patronage of more than 5000 people. The station has two platforms and falls on the Kanyakumari—Trivandrum line in the Trivandrum Division of the Southern Railway zone. most of all daily trains passing through the station halts in Kulitthurai station.

Renaming for the Station
- Since the Kulitturai Railway Station is in Marthandam, the Passenger Welfare Association has made a demand to the Railway Department to change the name to Marthandam Railway Station.
