Kottaram is one of the beautiful town located in Kanniyakumari district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

The town use to be a resting place during Travancore Maharaja period. There is a chathiram (Free lodge) and occupied by businesses now. A small Ram temple was built on the place called Nandavanam (Garden of flowers).

It is a junction and people from surrounding villages flock here. The town is very close to Kanyakumari and the famous Vattakottai and Maruthuvaz malai( Herb living hill) are nearby. The very old Government fruit farm and the weekly farmers market (Thali Aruthaan Chanthai) is also nearby.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census [GR|India] , Kottaram had a population of 9450. Males constitute 49% of the population and females 51%. Kottaram has an average literacy rate of 84%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 87%, and female literacy is 82%. In Kottaram, 9% of the population is under 6 years of age.
