Gorlap goby or Caspian bighead goby (Ponticola gorlap), is a Ponto-Caspian species of family Gobiidae. Earlier mentioned as the Caspian subspecies of the bighead goby Ponticola kessleri.
Widespread in the Caspian Sea, in Volga upriver to Astrakhan until 1977, spread out to Ivankovo and Rybinsk Reservoirs (2000); invaded Don drainage (Black Sea basin) through Volga-Don Canal (first record in 1972). Abundant in the Tsimlyansk Reservoir and lower Don.
