Cesar Augusto Cabral (born February 11, 1989 in Sabana Grande de Palenque, Dominican Republic) is a left-handed minor league baseball pitcher currently in the Boston Red Sox organization.

Cabral was originally signed by the Boston Red Sox and played in their minor league system through 2010. His professional career began in 2006, when he went 1-4 with a 4.54 ERA in 11 games (10 starts) with the DSL Red Sox. In 2007, again with the DSL Red Sox, Cabral went 5-4 with a 1.76 ERA in 14 starts. He pitched for the GCL Red Sox in 2008, going 2-5 with a 5.59 ERA in 11 games (9 starts), striking out 51 batters in 48 1/3 innings. In 2009, he went 1-6 with a 4.03 ERA in 15 games (9 starts) with the Lowell Spinners. He split 2010 between the Greenville Drive and Salem Red Sox, going a combined 4-0 with a 3.63 ERA in 45 relief appearances. That season, he struck out 80 batters in 79 1/3 innings.[1]

Lefty with a solid frame and a smooth delivery. Pitches exclusively from the stretch. Fastball sits between 91-93 mph and tops out at 95 mph. Secondary pitches include an excellent 81-83 mph circle changeup, a mid-70s slurvey curveball, and a sharp 79-82 mph slider. Gets a lot of swings and misses with his changeup, which has nice downward movement. Excellent command and control, attacks hitters. [2]

He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 2010 Rule 5 Draft.[3]

He was claimed by the Toronto Blue Jays on waivers on March 12, 2011,[4] only to be waived and claimed by the Rays on March 14.[5] On March 28, he was returned to Boston per Rule 5 guidelines.

Miguel Gonzalez

Miguel Ángel González (born May 27, 1984 in Guadalajara, Mexico) is a baseball pitcher who plays for the Boston Red Sox organization. Listed at 6 ft 1 in (1.85 m), 170 lb (77 kg), he bats and throws right-handed.

Career

González was originally signed by the Los Angeles Angels as a rookie free agent in 2005. The following two years, he earned a number of honors with the Arkansas Travelers (Texas League/Double-A). He was selected by Boston in the 2008 Rule 5 draft. Out during the regular season while recovering from a knee injury, he made a comeback with the Venados de Mazatlán of the Mexican Pacific League.

In 2009, González underwent Tommy John surgery and missed the entire season. He was outrighted to Pawtucket in November 2009.

Anthony Ranaudo

Anthony Ranaudo (born: September 9, 1989 in Jackson, New Jersey) is a professional baseball player drafted in the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft by the Boston Red Sox.[6] He is listed as 6'7" and 225 lbs.[7]

Ranaudo was one of four children born to Angelo and Sharon Ranaudo.[8] He attended St. Rose High School in Belmar, New Jersey, where also played basketball and was president of the student council. Amassing numerous awards as a standout pitcher, Ranaudo was selected by the Texas Rangers in the 2007 MLB draft upon graduation, but did not sign a contract. He was a New York Yankees fan growing up.[9]

Ranaudo attended Louisiana State University. He pitched for 2008, 2009, and 2010 Tigers. Entering his junior season in 2010, Anthony was seen by many as one of the top pitchers coming into the draft.[10] However, Ranaudo missed five weeks of the season due to an elbow injury.[11] He had a standout year in 2009, third in NCAA strikeouts and was a critical player in the Tiger's College World Series Victory.[12] However, upon returning from the elbow injury in 2010, his numbers nor performance were the same as the previous year.[12]

Ranaudo also pitched twice in the Cape Cod Baseball League. After his freshman year he pitched for the Y-D Red Sox and then for the Brewster Whitecaps following his junior year. Ranaudo dominated during his tenure with the Whitecaps, pitching to a 3-0 record, without giving up a run in 29.2 innings of 31/8 K/BB pitching.[13]

Ranaudo was selected 39th overall in the supplemental first round of the 2010 MLB Draft. He signed with the Red Sox for a $2.55 million signing bonus just shortly before the signing deadline on August 16, 2010.[14] Anthony was assigned first to the Red Sox minor league affiliate Lowell Spinners where he will not pitch in 2010.[9]
