Geography
Marlow is located at 34°38′36″N 97°57′32″W / 34.64333°N 97.95889°W (34.643410, -97.958806)[3].
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 7.1 square miles (18 km2), of which, 7.1 square miles (18 km2) of it is land and 0.14% is water.
Demographics
As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 4,592 people, 1,877 households, and 1,289 families residing in the city. The population density was 646.5 people per square mile (249.7/km²). There were 2,086 housing units at an average density of 293.7 per square mile (113.4/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 90.90% White, 0.04% African American, 5.99% Native American, 0.24% Asian, 0.26% from other races, and 2.57% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.20% of the population.
There were 1,877 households out of which 30.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.1% were married couples living together, 11.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.3% were non-families. 29.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.37 and the average family size was 2.93.
In the city the population was spread out with 24.7% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 24.4% from 25 to 44, 21.1% from 45 to 64, and 21.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 88.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 81.5 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $23,105, and the median income for a family was $30,568. Males had a median income of $23,984 versus $19,620 for females. The per capita income for the city was $12,714. About 13.2% of families and 15.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 16.3% of those under age 18 and 11.8% of those age 65 or over.
