Nagatsuta Station (長津田駅, Nagatsuta-eki^?) is an interchange railway station located in Midori Ward, Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. It is served by the East Japan Railway Company's Yokohama Line, and is 17.9 kilometers from the terminus of the Yokohama Line at Higashi-Kanagawa Station. It is also served by the Tokyu Corporation’s Den-en-toshi Line, and is 25.6 kilometers from that line’s terminus at Shibuya Station. In addition, Nagatsuta is the terminus of the Yokohama Minatomirai Railway’s Kodomonokuni Line.

History

Nagatsuta Station was opened on September 23, 1908 as a station on the privately-held Yokohama Railway Company. The line was acquired by the Japanese government in 1910, and merged into the Japanese Government Railways system (the predecessor to the JNR) from October 1. 1917. Up until the end of World War II, access to the station was limited to military personnel due to the proximity of armaments factories and arsenals in the area. All freight operations were suspended from 1960. On April 1, 1966, the Tōkyū Den-en-toshi Line began operations to Nagatsuta. This was followed by the Kodomonokuni Line on April 1, 1967. With the privatization of the JNR on April 1, 1987, the station came under the operational control of JR East.

Station layout

Nagatsuta Station is where the express and local trains on the Den-en-toshi line cross. JR Nagatsuta and Tokyu Nagatsuta use the same building. JR Nagatsuta Station has a single island platform serving two elevated tracks. The Tōkyū Nagatsuta Station has two island platforms serving four elevated tracks. The Kodomonokuni Line has a single side platform.
