Cridersville ( /ˈkraɪdərzvɪl/)^[3] is a village in Auglaize County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,817 at the 2000 census. It is included in the Wapakoneta, Ohio Micropolitan Statistical Area.

It is a rural community with only a few businesses to serve local residents and surrounding farmers. An "antenna farm" visible from Interstate 75 can be seen looking east which includes a cell phone tower, the transmitting towers of WFGF-FM and WIMT-FM, along with WIMA (AM) located to the north in neighboring Fort Shawnee.^{[citation needed]}

It is located about halfway between the cities of Lima and Wapakoneta and is adjacent to the village of Fort Shawnee in Allen County.

The village is served by the Wapakoneta City School District.

Geography

Cridersville is located at 40°39′14″N 84°8′41″W / 40.65389°N 84.14472°W / 40.65389; -84.14472 (40.653916, -84.144714)^[4].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.9 square miles (2.3 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the census^[2] of 2000, there were 1,817 people, 732 households, and 508 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,992.8 people per square mile (770.9/km²). There were 764 housing units at an average density of 837.9 per square mile (324.2/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 96.42% White, 0.50% African American, 0.22% Native American, 0.06% Asian, 0.39% from other races, and 2.42% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.37% of the population.

There were 732 households out of which 32.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.4% were married couples living together, 12.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.6% were non-families. 27.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.43 and the average family size was 2.94.

In the village the population was spread out with 27.1% under the age of 18, 8.0% from 18 to 24, 25.6% from 25 to 44, 21.8% from 45 to 64, and 17.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 86.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 78.6 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $32,113, and the median income for a family was $36,653. Males had a median income of $32,337 versus $21,902 for females. The per capita income for the village was $15,768. About 10.5% of families and 12.3% of the population were below the poverty line, including 22.4% of those under age 18 and 2.5% of those age 65 or over.
