McFly
McFly rose to fame in 2004, in part due to their association with Busted who helped launch them by offering them the position of support act in their tour, A Present for Everyone.[2] Jones met Tom Fletcher when he auditioned for the boyband V (whom he had mistaken as being a more Bustedesque band), Fletcher, who was filming the auditions for Island Records, later approached Jones. The two conversed and found they had common interests and so Fletcher invited Jones to write with him and James Bourne.[3] When writing projects for Busted had ended, the two began writing for their own then unnamed band, eventually moving, temporarily, into the InterContinental Hotel, in London.[4] Drummer (Harry Judd) and bassist (Dougie Poynter) were subsequently recruited via an advert placed by the duo in the NME magazine. Jones has co-written all five of McFly's studio albums along with his fellow band members. He also penned three of his own solo tracks on the first three McFly albums.[5][6][7] He has also produced tracks for McFly and other musicians; for example, he produced their song Only The Strong Survive from their fourth studio album "Radio:ACTIVE" as well as his band's cover of Rihanna's "Umbrella". He has also produced countless demos for his band, alongside his bandmate Tom Fletcher. Jones also takes the role of lead guitarist in most performances, with Fletcher acting as rhythm guitar, and can be seen performing solos in songs such as That Girl, I Wanna Hold You, Everybody Knows & Transylvania. As a side project, Jones has also been working on remixes for his band's songs as well as other songs. Songs such as Party Girl, Nowhere Left To Run and Take Me There have all been remixed under the name Danny Jones. Some remixes can be found as b-sides on singles released from the album Above The Noise. Jones has also been seen at many concert afterparties as a DJ.
Television and film appearances
Jones has appeared alongside his McFly bandmates in numerous TV shows. In January 2005, they guest-starred in an episode of the long-running British drama series Casualty,[8] and in 2007 made a cameo on Doctor Who episode "The Sound of Drums".[9] They also appeared on Ghosthunting with...[10] and Gordon Ramsay's The F Word.[citation needed]
Jones has appeared with McFly at many televised music events, including T4 on the Beach and the first and second annual Nickelodeon UK Kids Choice Awards.[11] They also starred in the teen comedy film Just My Luck with Lindsay Lohan and Chris Pine.[12] Without his bandmates, Jones has appeared on several shows, including Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Celebrity Juice and 8 out of 10 cats.[13] On 4 October 2009, Jones appeared on All Star Family Fortunes with his family, playing against Zöe Lucker.
As of 15 January 2010, Jones has been participating in the British ITV1 celebrity reality television programme Popstar to Operastar. He was voted off on the fourth week by public vote, losing out to Marcella Detroit.
Personal life
As of September 2009, Jones was dating Miss England 2007 Georgia Horsley, having previously dated Miss England 2008 Laura Coleman.[14]
