"Room on the 3rd Floor" is the fourth single from the UK pop band McFly. This is also the title track from their first album "Room on the 3rd Floor", and was the last single taken from the album. It entered the chart at number five in the UK singles chart.

    The song

Written by two of the band members: Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones, the track is about the room in which Danny and Tom stayed at London's InterContinental Hotel (Room 363). The song is less upbeat and uptempo than their previous singles. The song was written during their two-month stay at the hotel, which they found a little tedious; they began listening in to arguments in the neighbouring rooms, and wrote about a rather annoying room-service maid, all of which are mentioned on the track.

"It is a shameless rip off of the Dream Theater song Take the Time which is much better" (Tom Fletcher)

    Track listings

The CD features a Queen track of "Crazy Little Thing Called Love". It also features previous tracks performed live. It was the second single by McFly to feature on a DVD single, which features the music video for their second number-one single "Obviously", plus some home-video footage. Band members Danny and Tom provided a short video in which they gave viewers a guitar lesson.

    The video

The video depicts the band as small plastic models. During the shoot, the band were painted blue ("Like a smurf"- Danny) and then digitally enhanced to make them look like plastic. McFly can be seen in full colour playing on the packaging box; the "McFly Set w/ Roadie and Fan" is a nod to their then upcoming tour.
