The village is located on the A381 between Kingsbridge and Salcombe, and is a popular village for tourists with many holiday homes located around the village.
Malborough can be seen from many miles away throughout the South Hams region, due to its magnificent church spire, which is located at the highest point of Malborough. A church with a spire is rare around the South Coast of England, due to Malborough being excluded from many battles in history, where traditionally a church with a tower will be used for an advantage in war. It is also believed that Malborough was once home to groups such as the Vikings.
The village is also home to a large Co-op newsagent and Texaco petrol station, which is widely used by people from nearby villages such as Hope Cove, Bolberry, South Huish, South Milton and Galmpton.
The village also has two pubs, a large village hall and playing fields, a hotel/restaurant, a primary school, a post office and a football team.
