Mir-194 microRNA precursor family

Mir-194 microRNA precursor family

In molecular biology, miR-194 microRNA precursor is a small non-coding RNA gene that regulated gene expression. Its expression has been verified in mouse ( [http://microrna.sanger.ac.uk/cgi-bin/sequences/mirna_entry.pl?acc=MI0000236 MI0000236] , [http://microrna.sanger.ac.uk/cgi-bin/sequences/mirna_entry.pl?acc=MI0000733 MI0000733] ) [cite journal | last = Lagos-Quintana | first = M | coauthors = Rauhut R, Meyer J, Borkhardt A, Tuschl T | year = 2003 | title = New microRNAs from mouse and human | journal = RNA | volume = 9 | pages = 175–179 | pmid = 12554859 | doi = 10.1261/rna.2146903] and in human ( [http://microrna.sanger.ac.uk/cgi-bin/sequences/mirna_entry.pl?acc=MI0000488 MI0000488] , [http://microrna.sanger.ac.uk/cgi-bin/sequences/mirna_entry.pl?acc=MI0000732 MI0000732] ). [cite journal | last = Michael | first = MZ | coauthors = O' Connor SM, van Holst Pellekaan NG, Young GP, James RJ | year = 2003 | title = Reduced accumulation of specific microRNAs in colorectal neoplasia | journal = Mol Cancer Res | volume = 1 | pages = 882–891 | pmid = 14573789] mir-194 appears to be a vertebrate-specific miRNA and has now been predicted or experimentally confirmed in a range of vertebrate species ( [http://microrna.sanger.ac.uk/cgi-bin/sequences/mirna_summary.pl?fam=MIPF0000055 MIPF0000055] ). The mature microRNA is processed from the longer hairpin precursor by the Dicer enzyme. In this case, the mature sequence is excised from the 5' arm of the hairpin.
