- Mir-181 microRNA precursor
miR-181 microRNA precursor is a small
non-coding RNA molecules. MicroRNAs are transcribed as ~70nucleotide precursors and subsequently processed by theDicer enzyme to give a ~22 nucleotide mature product. In this case the mature sequence comes from the 5' arm of the precursor. The mature products are thought to have regulatory roles through complementarity to target mRNAs. miR-181 which has been predicted or experimentally confirmed in a wide number of vertebrate species ( [http://microrna.sanger.ac.uk/cgi-bin/sequences/mirna_summary.pl?fam=MIPF0000007 MIPF0000007] ). It has been shown that miR-181 is preferentially expressed in the B-lymphoid cells of mousebone marrow ,cite journal | author = Chen CZ, Li L, Lodish HF, Bartel DP | title = MicroRNAs modulate hematopoietic lineage differentiation | journal = Science | volume = 303 | issue = 5654 | pages = 83–6 | year = 2004 | pmid = 14657504 | doi = 10.1126/science.1091903 | issn = ] but also in theretina andbrain .cite journal | author = Ryan DG, Oliveira-Fernandes M, Lavker RM | title = MicroRNAs of the mammalian eye display distinct and overlapping tissue specificity | journal = Mol.
