WNYSD, an Abbott District, serves all of the city of West New York.[2] The school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Secondary Schools since 1970.[3]
As of the 2009-10 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,764 students and 145 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 12.17.[1] All students in the feeder pattern come from West New York Middle School.
The school was the 273rd-ranked public high school in New Jersey out of 322 schools statewide, in New Jersey Monthly magazine's September 2010 cover story on the state's "Top Public High Schools", after being ranked 282nd in 2008 out of 316 schools.[4] The school was ranked 261st in the magazine's September 2006 issue, which surveyed 316 schools across the state.[5]

Athletics
The Memorial High School Tigers compete in the Hudson County Interscholastic Athletic Association (HCIAA), which includes private and parochial high schools in Hudson County. The league operates under the supervision of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA).[6]
In 2001, the boys baseball team made it to the finals of the North I Group IV state tournament, falling to rival North Bergen High School 4-3 in the final game.[7]
In 2002, the boys basketball team won the North I Group IV state title, defeating Hackensack High School 65-62.[8]
