Biography
Leung was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. She began skating at age 3 with the Kitsilano Figure Skating Club and her former coach Christine Goodall. She has been home schooled since grade 7 and has passed grade 10 piano in Royal Conservatory of Music.[2]
Leung has been coached by Joanne McLeod for several years. She was briefly coached by her mother, then former World Champion Karen Magnussen. After issues with McLeod, which was a result of her mother's involvement, their relationship dissolved, and Leung trained in Richmond at Minoru Arenas, with the Connaught Skating Club. She was coached by Christine McBeth, with input by Leung's mother. After the 2006 Skate Canada International, Leung returned to McLeod.[3]
Leung landed her first triple salchow and triple toe loop when she was only eight years old. Skipping the novice level at Canadians, when she was thirteen, Leung jumped straight into the senior level.[4]
