Narasimharajapura (Kannada: ನರಸಿಂಹರಾಜಪುರ) is a panchayat town in Chikmagalur district in the Indian state of Karnataka.

Geography

Narasimharajapura is located at 13°37′N 75°31′E / 13.62°N 75.52°E / 13.62; 75.52^[1]. It has an average elevation of 643 metres (2109 feet). Initially Narasimharajapura was so called as "Yedehalli".During the half of 19th century Mysore state's Narasimharaja wadiyar visited Yedehalli the town's name got changed as Narasimharajapura. Later on Narasimharajapura turned as N.R.PURA.

Demographics

As of 2001^[update] India census^[2], Narasimharajapura had a population of 7441. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Narasimharajapura has an average literacy rate of 77%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 82%, and female literacy is 73%. In Narasimharajapura, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.
