Cholapuram (Tamil: சோழபுரம்) is a panchayat town in Thanjavur district in the state of Tamil Nadu, India.

Geography

Cholapuram is located at 9°22′N 77°35′E / 9.37°N 77.58°E / 9.37; 77.58.[1] It has an average elevation of 123 metres (403 feet).

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[2] Cholapuram had a population of 6364. Males constitute 48% of the population and females 52%. Cholapuram has an average literacy rate of 72%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 79% and female literacy of 66%. 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.
