Эвенки́йский автоно́мный о́круг, Evenki: Эведы Автомоды Округ, "Evedy avtomody okrug"), or Evenkia—a federal subject (anautonomous okrug ) of Russia, which, as of 2006, at 767,600 km², was Russia's seventh largest and least populous federal subject (17,697 as of the 2002 Census). Its administrative center is theurban-type settlement of Tura.Following a referendum on the issue held on
April 17 ,2005 , Evenk andTaymyr Autonomous Okrug s were merged intoKrasnoyarsk Krai effectiveJanuary 1 ,2007 . Administratively, they are now considered to be units with special status (districts) within Krasnoyarsk Krai; municipally, they have a status of municipal districts.Boris Zolotaryov was the last governor of the autonomous okrug.Demographics
