Minusinsky District (Russian: Минуси́нский райо́н) is an administrative and municipal district (raion), one of the forty-three in Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia. It is located in the southern portion of the krai and borders with Krasnoturansky District in the north, Kuraginsky District in the east, Karatuzsky District in the southeast, Shushensky District in the south, and the Republic of Khakassia in the west. The area of the district is 3,185 square kilometers (1,230 sq mi).^[2] Its administrative center is the town of Minusinsk (which is not administratively a part of the district).^[1] Population: 25,873 (2010 Census preliminary results);^[7] 26,729 (2002 Census);^[12] 25,803 (1989 Census).^[13]

Geography

The district is situated on the Yenisey River in the central part of Minusinsk Hollow.

History

The district was founded on April 4, 1924.^[2]

Divisions and government

Administratively, the district is divided into thirteen selsoviets, which are municipally incorporated as rural settlements. The Head of the District is Vladimir Ye. Bugayev, and the Chairman of the District Council is Alexander P. Shakhov.^[2] As of 2010, the District Council consists of twenty-one deputies.^[14]

Transport

The Abakan-Tayshet railway runs through the district territory. Part of the federal highway M54 passes through the district as well.
