Mukhorshibirsky District (Russian: Мухоршибирский райо́н; Buryat: Мухар-Шэбэр аймаг) is an administrative and municipal district (raion), one of the twenty-one in the Republic of Buryatia, Russia. The area of the district is 4,539 square kilometers (1,753 sq mi).^[2] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Mukhorshibir.^[1] District's population: 24,978 (2010 Census preliminary results);^[3] 28,634 (2002 Census);^[7] 28,910 (1989 Census).^[8] Population of Mukhorshibir accounts for 19.1% of the district's population.^[7]
