Politics
Current MLA from Nuapada Assembly Constituency is Biju Janata Dal candidate Rajendra Dholakia, who won the seat in State elections of 2009. This is his second term as MLA. In his first term he was elected as an Independent candidate in the Assembly elections held in 2004. Previous MLAs from this seat were Basanta Kumar Panda of BJP who won this seat in 2000, Ghasi Ram Majhi who won representing JD in 1995 and 1990 and representing JNP in 1985 and in 1977, and Bhanuprakash Joshi of INC(I) in 1980.[1]
Nawapara is part of Kalahandi (Lok Sabha constituency).[2]
