State Route 444 is north–south state highway in the southwestern portion of the U.S. state of Ohio in the Dayton metropolitan area. Its southern terminus is at its interchange with State Route 4 on the western side of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, and its northern terminus is at Interstate 675 2 miles (3.2 km) northeast of Fairborn. The route serves Dayton and Fairborn as well as the air force base.

History

  • 1959 – Original route certified; originally routed from its current southern terminus to Interstate 70 (then U.S. Route 40) 4 miles north of Fairborn along the former alignment of State Route 4 (this route was the former State Route 52 before 1926)[2].
  • 1976 – Northern terminus moved to its current position when Interstate 675 was completed and signed along the alignment from State Route 444’s current northern terminus north to Interstate 70[2].
