ElectionsThe New Pole for Italy (Nuovo Polo per l'Italia, NPI), referred also either as the Third Pole (Terzo Polo) or Pole of the Nation (Polo della Nazione), is a centre-right coalition of parties in Italy.
It was founded on 15 December 2010 both as an alternative to the centre-right political alliance between The People of Freedom and Lega Nord led by Silvio Berlusconi and to the centre-left coalition led by the Democratic Party.[1][2] The NPI includes a majority of former supporters of Berlusconi and a relevant group of disillusioned Democrats. Its main leaders are Pier Ferdinando Casini, Gianfranco Fini and Francesco Rutelli.
