The station has two platforms. Platform 1 (Pacific Highway side) has trains heading from Newcastle to Central, and Platform 2 (Narara Valley Drive side) has trains heading from Central to Newcastle (subject to change during trackworks). Platform 2 has a small ticket vending machine which accepts coins and gives tickets for stations north of Narara only. Platform 1 holds a full ticket vending machine which accepts banknotes and gives tickets for all stations, North and South. The station is served by intercity trains to Sydney and Newcastle. The platforms are only 4 cars long, even though many Central Coast trains are 6 and 8 cars long, though this is not a problem with some trains which have selective door locks. When returning to Narara station by train, passengers must travel in the rear 4 cars.
Service Frequency is approximately one train per hour in each direction, every day. In peak hours, there is often two or three trains in the hour.
