Medvezhyegorsky District (Russian: Медвежьего́рский райо́н) is an administrative district (raion), one of the fifteen in the Republic of Karelia, Russia. Municipally, it is incorporated as Medvezhyegorsky Municipal District. Its administrative center is the town of Medvezhyegorsk. District's population: 31,870 (2010 Census preliminary results);^[3] 38,388 (2002 Census);^[4] 47,301 (1989 Census).^[6] Population of Medvezhyegorsk accounts for 48.8% of the district's population.^[3]
