Olonetsky District (Russian: Олоне́цкий райо́н) is an administrative district (raion), one of the fifteen in the Republic of Karelia, Russia. Municipally, it is incorporated as Olonetsky Municipal District. Its administrative center is the town of Olonets. District's population: 23,129 (2010 Census preliminary results);^[3] 27,034 (2002 Census);^[4] 30,497 (1989 Census).^[6] Population of Olonets accounts for 39.2% of the district's population.^[3]

Olonetsky District is the only district in the Republic where Karelians form a majority of the population (63.38% in 1989). Natural population growth rate was -12.02 per 1,000 in 1994.
