Dean J. Hachamovitch (pronounced /həˈkɑːmɵvɪtʃ/) is the corporate vice president in charge of the Internet Explorer team at Microsoft.[1][2][3][4][5]

Early life and education

Hachamovitch was born to Shoshana and Dr Moshe Hachamovitch in New York. His mother was an office manager at Alpha Surgical Enterprises, while his father was an obstetrician and gynaecologist and an assistant professor at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.[6]

Hachamovitch holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics from Harvard University.[6][7]

Career

Hachamovitch joined Microsoft after graduating from Harvard in 1990,[7] and has worked as a product unit manager for Zone.com, part of Microsoft's online gaming branch.[3][8][9] He had also worked on Microsoft Office.[3] Later, he became the general manager of the Internet Explorer Team.[2][3]

During his career at Microsoft, Hachamovitch has been involved in the invention of several technologies which were subsequently patented by Microsoft,[10] including AutoComplete,[11] AutoCorrect[12] and progress animation.[13]

Personal life

Dean Hachamovitch married Joan Morse in October 1993, when they both worked at Microsoft. Ms Morse is a Brown University graduate and has a master's degree in management from Northwestern University.[6]

In his spare time, Dean Hachamovitch enjoys spending time with his wife, kids, and puppy.[5]
