MalaysiaMalaysia-Chile relations refers to foreign relations between Malaysia and Chile. Chile has an embassy in Kuala Lumpur, and Malaysia has an embassy in Santiago.
The Malaysia-Chile relations is only based on trade. In 2009, the trade between Malaysia and Chile is US$ 336 million with the total Malaysian export to Chile is US$ 16.8 million while the import is US$ 148.7 million.[1][2]
Sultan Mizan's visit to Chile
On April 19, 2009, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin and Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tuanku Nur Zahirah made an official visit to Chile and met with Chile's president, Michele Bachelet.
The delegation arrived at the Santiago International Airport. Among the dignitaries present were the Ambassador of Chile to Malaysia, Hose Menuel and Ambassador of Malaysia to Chile, Faiz Abdullah Mohd Zain. The delegation visit Consistorial Castle, Pre-Columbian Art Museum, Animals Gallery and the Constitution Square. Key City from the Mayor of Santiago, Pablo Zalaquett Said granted to his Majesty as a token of appreciation for the visit. The royal delegation also visited the headquarters of the Police Equestrian Unit at Calle Cuacho Chile Verde and Chile welcomed Police Chief General Eduardo Gordon. Sultan Mizan is a fan of equestrian sports. Tuanku Nur Zahirah visited Artesania Fina chilena (FABA) to see the softness of Lapis Lazuli, gems that are only found in Chile and Afghanistan.[3]
