- Brazil–Chile relations
Brazil-Chile relations refers to
interstate relations between the Republic of Chile and theFederative Republic of Brazil . Currently, both countries are ruled bysocialist leaders,Michelle Bachelet in Chile andLula da Silva in Brazil, whom advocate for a moderate leftist politics and open market economy. Chile and Brazil have acted numerous times as mediators in international conflicts, such as in the 1914 diplomatic impasse between theUnited States andMexico , avoiding a possiblestate of war between those two countries. More recently, since the2004 Haiti rebellion , Chile and Brazil have activelly participated in theUnited Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti , which is led by theBrazilian Army .Historical relations

Argentina (Uruguay and Patagonia) made Brazil and Chile close allies.ABC pact
On
May 20 ,1914 , Argentina, Brazil and Chile (theABC countries ) met in Niagara Falls,Canada , to mediate diplomatically in order to avoid astate of war between theUnited States andMexico over theVeracruz Incident and theTampico Affair .On
May 15 ,1915 , theABC Powers met again to sign a more formal treaty, designed to fomentcooperation , non-aggression and thearbitration of disputes. It was formulated to resist American influence in the region and to establish a mechanism for consultation between the three signatory countries, such as setting up a permanent mediation commission. The official name was the Consultation, Non-Aggression and Arbitration Pact.References
