**Two super-mega hit albums :Hikaru Utada 's "Distance" andAyumi Hamasaki 's "A BEST" were released on exactly the same date. Their debut week sales were 3,002,720 and 2,874,870, respectively, setting the world's #1 and #2 one-week album sales records. *March 31 - Famous singer for 1992's "I Will Always Love You ",Whitney Houston and husbandBobby Brown are banned for life from Hollywood's Bel Air hotel and arrested after destroying their room. Property that was allegedly damaged included a TV, and two doors. According to Hotel Workers, the walls and carpets were also stained by alcohol. The Hotel closed down the room for five days for repairs.
*April 4 - Original Zombies lead singerColin Blunstone and keyboardistRod Argent , reunite for a two part performance atLondon 's Jazz Cafe. This was the first time the two band members performed together in over 30 years.
*April 24 andOctober 30 -Janet Jackson andMichael Jackson release albums in the same year, respectively. Janet releases "All For You" and Michael releases "Invincible". Both albums would hit #1 on the album charts.
*May 1 -Huey Lewis and the News makes a comeback with their album "Plan B", their first album of new material in a decade.

*September 4 - The second studio album fromArmenian-American bandSystem of a Down , "Toxicity", is released worldwide. After the 9/11 attacks, the singleChop Suey! is put on theList of songs deemed inappropriate by Clear Channel following the September 11, 2001 attacks .
*September 10 -11 -Blink-182 originally started shooting a video for the songStay Together for the Kids onSeptember 10 ,2001 , and originally featured the band playing in a derelict house. The next day when they went to finish the video, the 9-11 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City occurred. They decided to shoot another video for the song a few weeks later.
