Formed in 2001 when García and drummerAlberto Ardines were ejected fromAvalanch , the band has since released fivestudio album s and onelive album , with a sixth studio album currently in progress. WarCry has had a fluctuating lineup with García as the sole constant member. The band has been acclaimed as one of Spain's most famous heavy metal actscite web| title = Allmusic Biography of WarCry| author = Gutierrez, Evan| publisher = Allmusic.com| date = | url = http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=11:3xfixqydld0e~T1| accessdate = 2008-09-30] and has won numerous awards in both Spain andLatin America .History
Formation: 1992–2002
Guitarist Víctor García had formed a band named War-Cry in 1992, but disbanded it in 1994 when he became therhythm guitar ist for the Spanishpower metal bandAvalanch . After leaving Avalanch in February 1996 he reformed the group as WarCry, this time acting assongwriter and lead singer. This incarnation of WarCry recorded a demo entitled "Demon 97 ", but disbanded again a year later when Victor García rejoined Avalanch as lead singer. In 2001 he and Avalanchdrummer Alberto Ardines started recording an album of songs that they had been composing in their spare time, most of which had been written during the 1990s with lyrics in English. The pair translated the lyrics into Spanishcite web|title=Interview with WarCry|author=|publisher=maxmetal.net|date=2003-03-14 |url=http://www.maxmetal.net/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=19&page=1

GuitaristsFernando Mon , formerly of Avalanch, and Pablo García ofRelative Silence also collaborated on the album by recordingguitar solo s. Upon learning of Víctor and Ardines' project, the other members of Avalanch disapproved of it and expelled them from the band. Victor García has stated that he presented many of his song ideas to Avalanch, but received writing credit on only two released songs: "Aquí Estaré" and "Por Mi Libertad". "Aquí Estaré" had barely been accepted by the band but went on to become one of Avalanch's most popular songs, and so he decided "to release a couple of songs, but never with the idea of leaving Avalanch."cite web|title=Living the Present|last=Tur|first=Juan|publisher=rocktrip.net|url=http://rocktrip.net/reportajes%2025.htm|accessdate=2008-04-29]Listen

They were joined by Pablo García and Fernando Mon, and recorded their debut album "WarCry" which was released in April 2002. Shortly after the album's recording they were joined bybassist Alvaro Jardón , formerly of Darna. Asturias ).cite web|title=Manuel Ramil leaves WarCry|author=|publisher=metalmas.com|date=2007-02-22 |url=http://www.metalmas.com/2008/02/22/manuel-ramil-abandona-warcry/

Shortly after, Ramil, Ardines, Mon, and vocalistToni Amboaje formed a new band calledSauze . Alea Jacta Est ", which isLatin for "the die is cast", this album incorporatedprogressive metal tendencies, making use of their twin-guitar sound, and most of the members collaborated on the songs. The lyrics now contained personal struggles and mythological themes; "Despertar", explains how it is to open one's eyes to the reality, "Reflejos De Sangre" talks about abuse between two brothers, similar to the story ofCain and Abel .With "
¿Dónde Está La Luz? " the lyrics turned more introspective, charged ofsocial issues , such asabuse on songs like "El Regreso ",isolation ,sin , and alsodiscrimination which is the main idea on "Nuevo Mundo" talking about the immigration inSpain . The music was more elaborated, full of guitar riffs, almost no fast drumming, and García's singing style became more melodic with a soft reflective sound.Fifth studio album "
La Quinta Esencia " was a mix of their four previous works. The lyrics pointed to all directions, from epic stories like "Ulises" which talks aboutOdysseus , the legendary Greek king ofIthaca and hero of the "Odyssey ", to love songs such as "El Más Triste Adiós" and "Tu Recuerdo Me Bastará", or war-related ones like "La Vieja Guardia", "¡Que Vengan Ya!" among others. The music was actuallypower metal with speed and progressive tendencies, keyboards atmosphere, fast drumming, and García's use of a raugh-and-gravel vocal style.Band members
