ales and awards

"Survivor" debuted at number one on the U.S. "Billboard" 200 and the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts, selling over 663,000 copies in its first week. Within two months of its release the album was certified 3x platinum by the RIAA in recognition of three million copies sold to retailers in the United States. The album was the seventh best-selling album of 2001, selling over 3.72 million copies during the year according to Nielsen SoundScan. It was certified 4x platinum on January 4, 2002, and has sold 4.3 million copies in the U.S. to date according to SoundScan, and over 440,000 copies through music club sales. It spent fourteen weeks in the top ten and forty six weeks on the "Billboard" 200, less than half the amount of time that Destiny's Child's previous album, "The Writing's on the Wall" (1999), spent on the chart.

"Survivor" debuted at number one in most of the countries it charted on including the United Kingdom, Canada, Ireland, the Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Austria, Belgium and Switzerland. It landed in the top ten in Poland, Sweden, Japan, France, Italy and Finland. Worldwide, the album sold five million copies in its first five weeks, and though in the U.S. it didn't perform as well as "The Writing's on the Wall", worldwide it matched the success of the previous album and even surpassed it in some countries. In Europe the album was certified 2x platinum in recognition of two million albums sold across the continent. In Canada "Survivor" debuted at number one, selling over 31,000 copies in its first week, and it was certified 4x platinum (400,000 copies) in October 2003. In South Africa and the United Kingdom the album was certified 3x platinum; it spent four weeks at number one on the UK Albums Chart, and eventually sold 1.02 million copies. The album was certified 2x platinum in Australia. "Survivor" has sold 10 million copies worldwide.

The album won the Soul Train Lady of Soul Award for "Best R&B/Soul Album of the Year", the Teen Choice Award for "R&B/Soul Album of the Year - Group, Band, or Duo", and the American Music Award for "Favorite Pop/Rock Album". Destiny's Child won the Grammy Award for "Best R&B Vocal by Duo or Group" for the song "Survivor".
