Nathan Leigh Jones (or "NLJ") is a pop singer, songwriter and pianist born in Adelaide Australia, currently living between both Sydney Australia and New York City.

His latest album "Sooner Or Later" was released independently on 6 April 2011, and features Grammy Award winning musicians Dan Warner and Lee Levin.[1] Online music magazine 'Department For Sound' wrote: "Think piano-driven pop with youthful sensibilities and you’ve made a start in exploring the world that is NLJ. He has the credentials to match and is a winning package."[2]

Music

In 2004, Nathan Leigh Jones was named Artist Of The Year at the annual Musicoz Awards,[3] which lead him to record his 2006 debut album '10 Letters' at Australia's Sony Music Studios. A music video was made for the track 'Day After Day', filmed in Kiama New South Wales, featuring a grand piano placed in the middle of a seaside quarry. The video received airplay on Foxtel, and the track went on to become the 'Hot Pick' in the inaugural Pacific Songwriting Competition.[4] In early 2008 the album '10 Letters' was repackaged and remixed as a 5 track EP titled 'The Way I'm Missing You', and became available worldwide through the iTunes Music Store.

Background

Nathan Leigh Jones grew up in Adelaide (South Australia) as child number three in a family of six, and learnt to play the piano at age 4. He studied the trumpet throughout his teenage years, but concentrated solely on voice during his last year of high school, achieving a perfect score of 100% for his final moderated performance. Before recording his first album, he was the weekday drive show presenter on Life FM (Adelaide) and a youth ambassador for World Vision Australia.

Voice over career

Nathan Leigh Jones can regularly be heard as a voice over artist on Australian TV and radio commercials, having worked on major campaigns for Hungry Jack's (Burger King), Mitsubishi Motors and Jamster. More recently, Nathan is heavily featured as the promo voice on Australian free-to-air digital television channel Eleven, as well as subscription television channels Nickelodeon Australia and MTV Australia. He is currently represented by Sydney based voice over agency EM Voices.[5]

Other projects

Nathan Leigh Jones composed and arranged the music for 'Centrelink The Musical', which made its sold-out debut at the 2008 Adelaide Fringe Festival. He also co-wrote the single 'Pick It Up' for American Idol Season 5 semi-finalist Ayla Brown, which was performed live on American breakfast TV show Fox & Friends on 15 February 2010.[6] In 2011, Nathan arranged and produced a remake of "That What Friends Are For", featuring Alan Cumming, David Raleigh, Billy Porter and Ari Gold. All proceeds from the single benefited New York City charity The Ali Forney Center.
