History
Born in Rochester New York, David Raleigh moved to Seattle at the age of four, and received a scholarship to attend Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan. He recorded his first album in 1979 titled "Totally Psyched", a gospel release funded by an investor. The success of the album gave Raleigh a platform to tour with contemporary Christian icons such as Amy Grant and The Archers. Raleigh's first television appearance was a win on the American television show Star Search in 1990.
In 1993, Raleigh had a small feature role as himself in the German cult movie Kleine Haie.[1] His second album 'Never Alone' was recorded and released in 1995. Raleigh has since played numerous venues across New York, including Manhattan's Stringfellows, Tatou, and Waldorf Astoria. During the fall of 1998, Raleigh opened his own venue named ‘Club Raleigh at the Oaks’ in Greenwich Village. To date, David has played many venues across Germany, Hong Kong and Australia, including the iconic Sydney Opera House.
Current projects
In late 2008, David Raleigh released his new single 'I Do!' with the B-side 'The Only One', marking a new direction and sound for his music. The songs were produced by singer/songwriter Nathan Leigh Jones and mixed by New York producer J Chris Griffin. In an interview with Time Out magazine Hong Kong, Raleigh describes the song as "a happy tune, a ‘driving with the top down’ kind of number".[2] The song is to appear on his upcoming album. The music video for "I Do!" was directed by Alan Cumming and Ned Stresen-Rueter, and made its broadcast premiere on Logo on February 2, 2010.[3]
