As of the
census GR|2 of 2000, there were 2,097 people, 678 households, and 589 families residing in the town. Thepopulation density was 423.6/sq mi (163.6/km²). There were 717 housing units at an average density of 144.8/sq mi (55.9/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 92.23% White, 0.29% African American, 0.62% Native American, 0.38% Asian, 5.15% from other races, and 1.34% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 19.17% of the population.There were 678 households out of which 50.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 75.5% were married couples living together, 7.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 13.0% were non-families. 11.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 3.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.09 and the average family size was 3.34.
In the town the population was spread out with 33.5% under the age of 18, 6.5% from 18 to 24, 36.1% from 25 to 44, 17.3% from 45 to 64, and 6.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 101.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.9 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $64,063, and the median income for a family was $68,542. Males had a median income of $50,223 versus $35,707 for females. The

Prosper was a small rural town on Preston Road (SH 289) in North Texas about 6 mi (9 km) north of
Frisco, Texas but in recent years – true to its name – it has prospered. Prosper is growing quickly in terms of new home building (houses in the $150,000 to $2,000,000 + range). In addition to a long-time retail filling station, in 2004 Prosper saw its second and 3rd retail establishments arrive: a Sonic restaurant, and an Exxon "On The Run" station.Well-known residents include
