Geography
It is located in the southwest of Romania, at 30 km (19 mi) from Timişoara. Niţchidorf has 1,599 inhabitants (2005), and a total area of 64.13 km2 (24.76 sq mi). The commune is composed of three villages: Blajova, Duboz and Niţchidorf.
History
It was first mentioned in 1784. The commune was named after its founder, count Kristóf Niczky. Historically, it was inhabited mostly by German-speaking Banat Swabians. Ioan Maşcovescu of the Social Democratic Party has been mayor since 2004.
