Centerville is a town in Franklin County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 99 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Centerville is located at coor dms|36|11|6|N|78|6|41|W|city (36.184980, -78.111252)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.3 square miles (0.8 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 99 people, 41 households, and 30 families residing in the town. The population density was 348.5 people per square mile (136.5/km²). There were 51 housing units at an average density of 179.5/sq mi (70.3/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 92.93% White and 7.07% African American.

There were 41 households out of which 26.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.2% were married couples living together, 14.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.8% were non-families. 24.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 19.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.41 and the average family size was 2.87.

In the town the population was spread out with 17.2% under the age of 18, 11.1% from 18 to 24, 22.2% from 25 to 44, 26.3% from 45 to 64, and 23.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 45 years. For every 100 females there were 90.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 78.3 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $29,375, and the median income for a family was $31,250. Males had a median income of $18,750 versus $26,250 for females. The per capita income for the town was $16,849. There were 10.0% of families and 6.5% of the population living below the poverty line, including no under eighteens and 14.3% of those over 64.
