Bellerose Terrace is a hamlet (and census-designated place) in Nassau County, New York, USA. The population was 2,157 at the 2000 census.

Bellerose Terrace is located in the Town of Hempstead on the border of Queens County, New York.

Geography

Bellerose Terrace is located at coor dms|40|43|17|N|73|43|26|W|city (40.721345, -73.724014)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 0.1 square miles (0.3 km²), all land.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 2,157 people, 639 households, and 534 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 22,212.2 per square mile (8,328.2/km²). There were 649 housing units at an average density of 6,683.2/sq mi (2,505.8/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 65.92% White, 6.17% African American, 0.56% Native American, 15.67% Asian, 0.09% Pacific Islander, 7.65% from other races, and 3.94% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 19.89% of the population.

There were 639 households out of which 44.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.0% were married couples living together, 12.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 16.3% were non-families. 13.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.38 and the average family size was 3.68.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 27.8% under the age of 18, 9.4% from 18 to 24, 30.1% from 25 to 44, 22.8% from 45 to 64, and 9.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 99.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.7 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $74,853, and the median income for a family was $78,225. Males had a median income of $41,898 versus $40,938 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $23,751. About 1.1% of families and 2.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including none of those under age 18 and 15.1% of those age 65 or over.
